Our Faculty

Our Registrar

Our Principal

The primary role of the Registrar is to look after students. Dcs Kathleen is often the first person at LTS-A that students interact with, and she is there to provide course-selection advice, guidance through the enrolment process and support as students move to Adelaide and settle into their studies. As a trained deaconess, Kathleen is also responsible for the Diaconal Program and will be lecturing the deaconess-specific subjects when they start in our second year.

Dcs Kathleen was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She has a Bachelor of Arts from Concordia University, Ann Arbor (2003); a Master of Arts in Theology from Concordia Seminary, St Louis (2006); and Deaconess Certification through Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne (2010). Kathleen was commissioned as a Deaconess in 2010 and served at Concordia Lutheran Church in Columbus, Ohio, for six years on a part-time call, while raising her children. In 2016 she was called to the Goulburn Murray Lutheran Parish based in Shepparton, Victoria, with the majority of her work focused on multicultural youth and family ministry for St Paul’s, Shepparton. This involved the provision of very practical support to the congregation and the wider community in the areas of immigration, housing and employment, child and youth engagement, spiritual care and Christian education.

In July 2026 Kathleen accepted an appointment to LTS-A and will move to Adelaide with her husband Joel for the commencement of classes in early 2027. She is looking forward to establishing the Diaconal Program at LTS-A and to Deaconesses becoming an integral part of ministry to congregations in LM-A.

The Principal has overall responsibility for the Seminary. Pr Michael will also be teaching some of the introductory subjects to our students next year including introductions to Christian History, Old and New Testament and Spirituality and Worship.

Pr Michael is a “pastor’s kid” who grew up in country Victoria and South Australia, urban Brisbane and Lae (Papua New Guinea). He started his working life as a mechanical engineer, with various design and management roles in Australia and overseas (mainly the UK), where he met and married his wife, Gertraud. For the past 20-odd years they have lived in and around Adelaide and raised two children (now adults) there.

Michael completed bachelors in Theology and Ministry at ALC in 2016 and served as a pastor to Deaf and hearing Christians at Magill until being called to LM-A. One of the highlights of his time in ministry was the training of a Deaf member to succeed him as a Specific Ministry Pastor to the Deaf congregation, which affirmed his love of theological education.

In February 2025 Pr Michael was called part time to serve in the new Adelaide Northern Suburbs LM-A congregation and part time in the development of the Seminary. As LTS-A developed he moved to the Seminary full-time, and feels very blessed to be called to help train LM-A’s future pastors and deaconesses.
